Illinois’ casinos reported revenue of $174 million last month, up 24.3% from the $140 million generated in the previous year, boosted by openings and expansions.
The figures, published by the Illinois Gaming Board, were boosted by Wind Creek Chicago Southland opening in November, Fairmount Park’s expansion that opened June. Hard Rock Casino Rockford’s first full year in a permanent location and also that only one of the state’s 17 casinos reported a year-over-year decline.
Rivers Casino was the biggest revenue generator in August, producing $42 million. It also was the only casino to report a revenue decline, decreasing from $43.5 million, a 3.7% drop year-over-year.
Other double-digit revenue figures came from Wind Creek ($17.1 million), Hard Rock Casino Rockford ($13 million), Grand Victoria Casino ($12.6 million), Bally’s Chicago ($11.3 million), Hollywood Casino Joliet ($11.2 million), Harrah’s Joliet ($11 million), and Full House Resorts Illinois ($11 million).
Hard Rock Casino Rockford, which moved from a temporary location to a permanent home in August, had the greatest revenue increase, rising from $5.7 million to $13 million, a 129.5% year-over-year increase.
Slot revenue totaled $137 million, rising from $106.8 million and up 28.3% year-over-year. Table games revenue also increased, up 11.4%, from $33.3 million to $37 million.
