The M Resort Spa Casino south of the Las Vegas Strip in suburban Henderson has opened its $206 million expansion. The project nearly doubles the resort’s capacity and provides more opportunities for Penn Entertainment to entice guests to Las Vegas.
The opening of the new East Tower was celebrated Wednesday night with fireworks and dignitaries, including state gaming regulators. The 1970s’-era rock band Jefferson Starship performed.
The expansion adds 375 rooms to bring the M Resort’s total to 765. The development also includes a 15,000-square-foot ballroom that opened in October to expand the property’s total indoor and outdoor conference and event space to more than 100,000 square feet.
The refreshed table games area introduces new lighting, chairs, and carpet. The high limit room has also been completely refurbished with new carpet, wall hangings, and lighting.
M Resort serves the nearby master planned communities of Southern Highlands to the west and Inspirada and Anthem to the east. It’s near the Las Vegas Raiders headquarters and partners with the team.
Todd George, executive vice president of operations for Penn Entertainment, said, “We now have a place where we can pull people coming off the interstate from California,” George said. “We now have a place people can come in with their families and eat, dine, stay, and go to an amazing pool. All that gives us tremendous optimism.”
George said it’s the second opening for Penn in the last three months, with two more scheduled for 2026. In August, Penn opened Hollywood Casino Joliet near Chicago. In the second quarter of 2026, it will open Hollywood Casino Aurora in Illinois and a new tower at Hollywood Casino Columbus in Ohio.
“This is such an amazing time for Penn,” George said.
M Resort General Manager Hussain Mahrous told the gathering that the two years of work not only opened the new tower, but is transforming it into the property they always envisioned it would be.
Penn Entertainment CEO Jay Snowden, a Las Vegas native, said they envisioned this day since they outgrew their previous tower five years ago. The property opened in March 2009.
Snowden said the tower will make a difference in attracting business groups booking conventions at the property. The M didn’t have the capacity to accommodate large groups, which would go to the Strip.
“Now it’s time to bring that business back to Henderson,” Snowden said. “There’s a lot of positive momentum going on here in Henderson with the Raiders and Knights and all the rooftops going up at the south end of the valley.”
Henderson Mayor Michelle Romero said estimates show that for every 1,000 visitors that come to Las Vegas, there’s $1.5 million in economic impact. That reflects the importance of the hospitality industry to the community. “The M is the major amenity for west Henderson that continues to grow in residents and businesses every day.”
The expansion has added about 120 jobs. The property has 110 employees who have worked there since it opened.
The project was delivered on budget and ahead of schedule, officials said. The company received $150 million in project funding from Gaming and Leisure Properties on Nov. 3 at a 7.8% capitalization rate.
